Requirements

• 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11.
• A 5mdev account with active Vehicle Editor access.
• An internet connection for sign-in, session validation, and updates.
• Additional free disk space for YFT/YTD conversions, decoded AWC tracks, backups, and output. Asset operations may require several times the source file size.
• Read and write permission for the resource and output folders.

Install the application

1. Download VehicleEditorSetup.exe from the Vehicle Editor portal on your 5mdev account.
2. Run the installer. If Windows SmartScreen appears, verify that the installer came from the official portal before continuing.
3. Choose an installation location when offered and complete installation.
4. Open Vehicle Editor from the Start Menu or its shortcut.

The application installer is not a FiveM resource. Do not place the application inside your server's resources folder.

Connect a 5mdev account

Vehicle Editor never asks for your 5mdev password inside the desktop application and does not use a manually entered license key.

1. Click Sign in with 5mdev.
2. Your default browser opens the 5mdev authorization page. The application also displays the connection code for reference.
3. Sign in through the browser if necessary.
4. Confirm that the request came from the computer you are using, then approve the connection.
5. Return to Vehicle Editor. Keep the application open while it polls for approval.
6. After approval, the sign-in overlay closes and the connected account appears in the status bar.

Connection codes expire. Click Try again to create a new code when one has expired. Never share a connection code with another person.

Installation ID and credential storage

• Each installation has a persistent ID. The application attempts to derive it from a hashed hardware UUID and falls back to a random UUID when unavailable.
• The device token is encrypted through Electron safeStorage/Windows DPAPI. It is not stored in local storage or a plain-text settings file.
• Clearing the application's user data may remove the local token or make the installation appear as a new device.
• You can view and copy the Installation ID from Settings.

Device activation limit

Access and the maximum number of devices are controlled by the entitlement on your 5mdev account. If the activation limit has been reached:

1. Open the Vehicle Editor download portal on 5mdev.
2. Find the list of active devices.
3. Revoke a device that is no longer in use.
4. Start the sign-in flow again from the desktop application.

Signing out asks the server to disconnect the device and always removes the local token. If the network fails during sign-out, revoke the stale device from the portal.

Session verification at startup

At startup, the application reads the encrypted token and verifies access with 5mdev. A 401 response removes the local token and shows the sign-in screen. A temporary network error does not automatically delete the token; retry after connectivity is restored.
