Privacy Policy
This policy explains our data practices in plain language, including what is public, what stays account-related, and how to exercise privacy rights.
Effective and last updated · August 19, 2026
1. Scope and who is responsible
This Privacy Policy applies to 5mdev.com, its community features, accounts, forums, snippets, job listings, developer services, script resources, moderation tools, and related communications (collectively, the “Service”). The operator of 5mdev.com is responsible for deciding how personal information is processed through the Service.
For privacy questions or requests, contact [email protected]. This policy does not govern third-party websites or services reached through links on 5mdev.
2. Information we collect
Account and identity information. Email address, username, password hash, profile image, biography, account role, verification status, account creation time, and internal account identifier. We never store your plain-text password.
OAuth information. If you continue with Discord or Google, we receive the provider account identifier and profile details the provider makes available for authentication, such as your email, display name, and avatar. We do not receive your provider password.
Community content. Threads, replies, snippets, comments, images or image links, reviews, reports, likes, follows, bookmarks, and other material you choose to publish or submit.
Marketplace and opportunity information. Job descriptions, applications, service listings, budgets or prices, skills, turnaround estimates, contact links, resource details, licenses, versions, and links to external providers such as Tebex, GitHub, or Google Drive.
Technical and security information. IP address, browser and device information, timestamps, request details, authentication events, cookie identifiers, and diagnostic or security logs that may be generated when the Service is accessed.
Information from others. Other members may mention you, review your services or resources, report content, or interact with your account. OAuth providers also supply the limited authentication information described above.
3. What is public
Your username, avatar, biography, public profile activity, published forum content, snippets, listings, resources, reviews, and visible engagement counts may be available to anyone, including people without an account and search engines. Job applications, private moderation material, bookmarks, account credentials, and your email address are not intended to be public unless you place them in public content yourself.
Do not publish personal, confidential, payment, access-token, server credential, or other sensitive information in public fields. Removing content may not immediately remove copies already indexed, quoted, cached, or lawfully retained.
4. Why we use information
- Provide accounts, authentication, profiles, publishing, search, notifications, saved items, follows, reviews, jobs, services, resources, and other requested features.
- Display community content and connect server owners, developers, publishers, and other members.
- Secure the Service, prevent abuse, investigate reports, detect spam or malware, enforce rules, and preserve platform integrity.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, measure reliability, and improve the functionality and accessibility of the Service.
- Respond to support, privacy, copyright, safety, and legal requests.
- Comply with law, protect rights and safety, resolve disputes, and establish or defend legal claims.
We do not currently use personal information for third-party behavioral advertising, and we do not sell personal information for money.
5. Legal bases for processing
Where laws such as the GDPR require a legal basis, we rely on: contract to provide the Service you request; legitimate interests to secure, moderate, maintain, and improve a developer community while balancing member rights; consent where we clearly ask for an optional use; and legal obligations where processing is required by law.
You may withdraw consent for a consent-based use at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing already performed lawfully. Essential authentication and security processing may still be necessary to provide an account.
7. International data transfers
5mdev is intended for a global community. Information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use legally recognized transfer mechanisms or other safeguards and consider the protections provided by our service providers.
8. Retention and deletion
We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here. Account records and member content are generally retained while the account or content remains active. Security, moderation, transaction-context, and legal records may be retained longer where needed to prevent repeat abuse, resolve disputes, comply with law, or protect the community.
Retention also depends on the nature and sensitivity of the information, the risk of harm, technical backup cycles, and legal requirements. Deleted data may remain temporarily in restricted backups until those backups rotate. We may retain de-identified information that can no longer reasonably identify you.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know or access personal information, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, obtain a portable copy, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, and appeal a decision about a request. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
California residents may additionally request disclosure of categories and specific pieces of information, correction, deletion, and information about recipients, and may opt out of sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. 5mdev does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and does not discriminate against users for exercising applicable rights.
Send requests to [email protected] from the email associated with your account where possible. We may verify identity and authority before acting. Authorized agents may be required to provide proof of authority. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and explain if an exception applies.
11. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information, including access controls, protected credential storage, transport encryption in production, restricted database access, and security-conscious service configuration. No online system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for using a unique password and protecting your account and linked providers.
12. Age requirement
The Service is for adults aged 18 or older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
13. Automated decisions
We do not currently make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects solely through automated processing. Automated signals may help identify spam, unsafe links, or suspicious activity, but material moderation decisions may be reviewed by authorized people.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service, vendors, or laws change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice for material changes where appropriate. If a new optional cookie or consent-based purpose is introduced, we will request a new choice before activating it where required.
15. Contact
Send privacy questions, rights requests, and concerns to [email protected]. Include enough information to identify the relevant account or content, but do not send passwords, private keys, or government identity documents unless specifically requested through a secure process.
